Expressing "never again" with "zai ye bu"

Sometimes you may do something or experience something that you never ever want to do again. How do we express that in Chinese? One of the ways is to use 再也不 (zàiyěbù)!

Structure

To express that something will never be done again, or never happen again, you can use this structure:

Subject + 再也不 + Verb + Object + 了

Notice that 了 is used - in this case it's sentence 了. This is because it is now the case that the action will not be done.

Examples

• 昨天 晚上 太 丢脸 了，我 再也不 喝 酒 了。Zuótiān wǎnshang tài diūliǎnle, wǒ zài yě bù hējiǔle.Last night was embarrassing. I'm never drinking beer again.
• 我 再也不 说谎 了。 Wǒ zài yě bù shuōhuǎngle.I'm never going to lie again.
• 我 再也不 想 看 到 你 了。 Wǒ zài yě bù xiǎng kàn dào nǐ le.I'll never want to see you again.
• 他 骗 了 我 这么 多 次， 我 再也不 会 相信 他 了。 Tā piàn le wǒ zhème duō cì, wǒ zài yě bù néng xiāngxìn tā le.He lied to me so many times and I'm not going to believe him ever again.
• 她 的 腿 受伤 以后，就 再也不 能 跳舞 了 。 Tā de tuǐ shòushāng yǐhòu, jiù zài yě bù tiàowǔ le.After her leg was injured,she'll never be able to dance again.
