Expressing "then…" with "name"

Structure

When expressing "Then...," you can use "那么" (nàme) or "那" (nà) in order to begin a judgment or result from previous context. An example of this in English would be "Then, what should we do?"

Examples

• 他 不 听 ，那 我 应该 怎么办 ？Tā bù tīng, nà wǒ yīnggāi zěnmebàn? He wouldn't listen. What shall I do then?
• 你 说 得 有 道理 ，那么 就 这么 办 吧 。Nǐ shuō de yǒu dàolǐ, nàme jiù zhème bàn ba.What you said makes sense to me, so just do it as you said.
• 老板 不 同意 ，那 你 怎么办 ？Lǎobǎn bù mǎnyì zhège fāng'àn, nà nǐmen zài gǎigai.The boss is not very satisfied with the p, so you keep working on it.
• 大家 都 到 了 ，那么 请 开始 表演 吧 。Dàjiā dōu dào le, nàme kāishǐ biǎoyǎn ba.Everybody is here, so let the performance begin.
• 热身 完 了 ，那 我们 开始 吧 。Rèshēn wán le, nà wǒmen kāishǐ ba.The warmup is over. Now let't start.
• 你 认为 这个 办法 不行 ，那 你 有 别的 办法 吗 ？Nǐ rènwéi zhège bànfǎ bù xíng , nà nǐ yǒu bié de bànfǎ ma?You don't think this idea is good. Then have you got any other good idea?
• 他 最近 的 表现 不错 ，那么 就 让 他 通过 吧 。Tā zuìjìn de biǎoxiàn bùcuò, nàme jiù ràng tā tōngguò ba.His recent performance is not bad, so let him pass.
• 你 不 让 我 管 ，那 你 会 管 吗 ？Nǐ bù ràng wǒ guǎn, nà nǐ huì guǎn ma?You don't let me take care of it. So will you take care of it?
• 雨 太 大 了 ，那 你们 今晚 都 留 下来 吧 。Yǔ tài dà le, nà nǐmen jīnwǎn dōu liú xiàlái ba.The rain is too heavy, so you should all stay here for tonight.
• 客户 确认 了 ，那么 我们 就 准备 签 合同 了 。Kèhù quèrèn le, nàme wǒmen jiù zhǔnbèi qiān hétong le.The client has confirmed, so let's get prepared to sign the contract.
