Using 往 before a Verb
Structure
"往"加方位词、处所词，放在动词前，表示动作的方向。
往+ Direction / Place + Verb
Examples
- 一直 往 前 走 。Go straight along.
- 往 左 拐 。Turn left.
- 往 上 看 。Look up there.
- 往 回 走 五十 米 。Walk back fifty meters from here.
- 继续 往 上 爬 。Keep climbing up.
- 不要 往 楼下 扔 垃圾 。Don't throw trash downstairs.
- 不要 往 我 家 打电话 了 ！Stop calling my house!
- 脏 衣服 不要 往 地上 扔 。Don't throw the dirty clothes on the floor.
Using 往 after a Verb
在书面语里，"往"可用于个别单音节动词后，后面加处所名词。如：

Using 往下 to Mean "Keep Going"
"往下"可以引申为"接着、继续"的意思，表示这个过程前面中断过。与之搭配的动词一般是感官动词：说、读、写、看、听。
