会 (huì) has multiple uses, but in this context, it is being used to express the possibility of an action happening in the future.

Structure

As well as expressing a learned skill, 会 (huì) can also be used to indicate that something will happen or that someone will do something.


Subj. + 会 + Verb + Obj.

Examples

  • 明天 你 来 吗 ? Míngtiān nǐ huì lái ma? Will you come tomorrow?
  • 今晚 我 在 外面 吃饭 。 Jīnwǎn wǒ huì zài wàimian chīfàn. Tonight I will eat out.
  • 他 不 告诉 你。 huì gàosu nǐ. I won't tell you.
  • 考 上 大学 吗? huì kǎoshàng dàxué ma? Will he test into college?
  • 明天 下雨 吗? Míngtiān huì xiàyǔ ma? Will it rain tomorrow?
  • 下班 以后 , 我 给 你 打电话。 Xiàbān yǐhòu, wǒ huì gěi nǐ dǎ diànhuà. After getting off work, I will give you a call.
  • 我 出去 一下,很快 回来。 Wǒ chūqù yīxià, hěnkuài huì huílái. I'm going out for a little while.I'll come back very soon.
  • 他 不 跟 你 结婚 。 Tā bù huì gēn nǐ jiéhūn. He won't marry you.
  • 老板 同意 吗?Lǎobǎn huì tóngyì ma? Will the boss agree?
