Expressing future with "jiang"

将 (jiāng) can be used to denote something is about to happen in the near future, a bit like "about to" in English. It is generally used in formal contexts.

Structure

Subj. + 将 + [Verb Phrase]

Examples

  • 成为 一 个 成功 的 企业家 。He will become a successful entrepreneur.
  • 这个 政策 会 大大 改善 农民 的 收入 。This policy is about to improve farmers' income.
  • 如果 政府 不 批准 ,我们 举行 抗议 。We're about to hold protest if the government disapprove.
  • 这 次 世界杯 在 莫斯科 举行 。This World Cup will be held in Moscow.
  • 我们 公司 明年 要 推出 一 个 新 产品 。Our company is about to release a new product.

将 is often combined with other verbs like 会 and 要, and has a similar meaning.
