We've seen multiple ways to express "not only... but also..." 不但 can be followed by 而且 (ér qiě), 还 (hái), or 也 (yě). This structure expresses an equal degree of importance between the two scenarios and situations. However, although 不但 . . . 更 also expresses "not only... but also...", 不但 followed by 更 (gèng) expresses a different degree of importance between the two situations mentioned. The situation following 更 (gèng) has a greater impact or degree of importance than the situation following 不但.
