The particle 的 (de) is most often a structural particle, but it can also be a sentence-final particle which indicates that the speaker is certain about what he is saying. When it serves this purpose, it's expressing a type of "mood," and thus is called a "modal particle."

Basic Structure

The structure is:

Statement + 的

Frequently the statement will include 会 or 肯定会 to emphasize the speaker's certainty.

Examples

Some examples:

  • 我 不 会 骗 你 I won't lie to you.
  • 她 肯定 会 来 She's definitely going to come.
  • 你 这样 说 是 不 对 This way of saying it is just incorrect.
  • 他的 房间 收拾 得 是 非常 干净His room was cleaned up very well.
