If you've been working hard on your tone pairs and are at the B1 level, then you may be ready to test yourself. The following three "Tone Pair Check" videos get increasingly difficult as you go.

If these are too hard for you, please see our A2 Tone Pair Check page.

B1 Tone Pair Check 1

In this one, the tone pairs are in order (starting with 1-1), and you are given both the pinyin and the English translations. (You do need to know your tone change rules, though!)

B1 Tone Pair Check 2

In number two, the tone pairs are in random order, and you are given the English translations bit NO PINYIN. (You also need to know your tone change rules!)

B1 Tone Pair Check 3

In this last one, the tone pairs are in random order, and you are given NEITHER the pinyin NOR the English translations. (You also need to know your tone change rules!)

If these are too hard for you, please see our A2 Tone Pair Check page.
