The source of our HSK (2012 standard) vocabulary word lists is the Official HSK Website. We have added part of speech for each word, and where possible have tried to be consistent with the parts of speech provided by the HSK Standard Course textbook series used by most students of the HSK. English translations are our own, and may not be used without permission.
Although our source of vocabulary is the Official HSK Website, our word counts may differ. Reasons for this include:
- Multiple words counting as one in the official list, such as "虽然……但是……" (HSK 2) and "只有……才……" (HSK 3)
- Multiple uses as different parts of speech not accounted for in the official list, particularly in the case of verbs that can act as nouns, such as 工作 (HSK 1), 介绍 (HSK 2), and "安排" (HSK 3).
The table below has links to all of the HSK (2012 standard) word lists. You may choose to study just the new words (exclusive) in a level, or all of the cumulative words (inclusive) in a level.
This is the abbreviated HSK 1-5 table we'll use on the front page of the wiki until we finish the HSK 6 lists:
Previous Words | New Words | Total Words | |
---|---|---|---|
HSK 1 | -- | 150 | 150 |
HSK 2 | 150 | 150 | 300 |
HSK 3 | 300 | 300 | 600 |
HSK 4 | 600 | 600 | 1200 |
HSK 5 | 1200 | 1300 | 2500 |
This is the full table we'll use once all of the lists are online:
Previous Words | New Words | Total Words | |
---|---|---|---|
HSK 1 | -- | 150 | 150 |
HSK 2 | 150 | 150 | 300 |
HSK 3 | 300 | 300 | 600 |
HSK 4 | 600 | 600 | 1200 |
HSK 5 | 1200 | 1300 | 2500 |
HSK 6 | 2500 | 2500 | 5000 |
HSK Standard Course
These are the textbooks released by Beijing Language and Culture University Press in cooperation with the Hanban (the organization which oversees the HSK). This series is the most authoritative HSK (2012) test prep material.
