Expressing "from this" with "youci"

由此 is the formal written way of saying 从这里 or 从这样. Usually 由此 is paired with 可见, 可以看, 看来 and other similar verbs or verb phrases.

- 我 的 爷爷 的 名字 也 是 威廉，我 是 由此 命名 的。
- 由此 看来，即使 小学生 也 可以 有 重大 的 学习 压力。
- 由此 可见，除非 政府 进行 彻底 地 改革，经济 问题 无法 解决。
Notice the last two example sentences。 Sentences like those can be used to write a conclusion or summarize a point.
