兼（jiān）can be used to express doing two or more different jobs or identities.

Structure
Usually this grammar structure is used to express two (or more) simultaneous jobs or identities. It's kind of like saying "I'm a student. At the same time, I'm a programmer." The structure itself is pretty simple, you can put the 兼 after or before the verb.
Subject + 兼 + Verb + work/identity A + 和 + work/identity B

Some commonly used phrases
- 兼 职 (Part time job)
- 他除了在大学当老师之外，还在其他培训机构兼职。
- 兼 而有之 (Have both at the same time)
- 在科学研究方面，基础科学知识和应用科学知识应该兼而有之。
- 兼 收并蓄 (Absorb anything and everything)
- 对古代文化遗产，要批判的继承，不能兼收并蓄。
- 品学 兼 优 (Excellent in character and learning)
- 他是一名品学兼优的好学生。
