The first way that 经过 is used as a verb is that it means "to pass by" or "to pass through." It is like saying "I went through downtown" or "I passed by the shop."

Examples

  • 我 每天 上班 都 会 经过 人民 广场 。Wǒ měi tiān shàngbān dōu huì jīngguò Rénmín Guǎngchǎng.I pass the People's Square every day on my way to work.
  • 经过 我 家 门口 的 时候 叫 我 一下 。jīngguò wǒ jiā ménkǒu de shíhou jiào wǒ yīxià.Call me when you pass by my door.

As a noun, 经过 refers to the process of something.

  • 请 你 跟 我们 说 一下 当时 的 经过Qǐng nǐ gēn wǒmen shuō yīxià dāngshí de jīngguò.Please tell us a little about that process.
