"Since" as a preposition is useful especially when explaining when a situation changed. In English, we'll say, for example, "since going to college, I have discovered so many new interests." Or, to borrow from Kelly Clarkson's hit song, "since you been gone, I can breathe for the first time." In order to express "since" in Chinese, you can use the "自从……以来 (zìcóng……yǐlái)" structure.
