- Approximating numbers by putting consecutive figures side by side, e.g. 一两, 十五六.
- 几 can replace numbers 1 - 9
- Putting 多 after 十, 百, 千 or 万 indicates a number higher than the one stated but lower than the next round number. Similar to 'odd' in English, e.g. "30 odd".
- Putting 来 in this position indicates a number around the one stated.
- Approximation can also be indicated by putting 左右 or 上下 after a numeral.
- Serial numbers are read out digit by digit.
