Expressing "stuff like that" with "zhileide"

之类的 (zhīlèide) can be translated as "and so on" or "and stuff like that." As in English, this grammar point is used to continue a list without explicitly mentioning further items within it.

Structure

像 ⋯⋯ 之类的 + [Category]

The 像 can also be left out:

• 我家 附近 有 很 多 像 KFC 之类的 快餐 店 。There are many fast-food restaurants in my neighborhood like KFC and stuff like that.
• 你们 公司 谁 负责 像 管理 之类的 工作 ？Nǐmen gōngsī shéi fùzé xiàng guǎnlǐ zhīlèi de gōngzuò?In your company, who is in charge of jobs like management and stuff like that?
• 我 没 看 过 像 吸血鬼 之类的 故事 。Wǒ méi kàn guo xiàng xīxuèguǐ zhīlèi de gùshi.I haven't seen stories like vampire and stuff like that.
• 你 喜欢《星球大战》之类的 电影 吗 ？Nǐ xǐhuan "Xīngqiú Dà Zhàn" zhī lèi de diànyǐng ma?Do you like movies like "Star Wars"?
• 中国 女孩 会 怎么 回应 像 "你 真 漂亮" 之类的 赞美 ？How would Chinese girls respond to complements like "You are beautiful?"
• 年轻人 很 喜欢 用 像 支付宝 之类的 电子 支付 方式 。Young people love using electronic methods of payment like Alipay.
• 我们 学校 很少 办 才艺 比赛 之类的 活动 。Our school rarely holds activities like Talent Show and stuff like that.
• 她 穿 的 衣服 都 是 Gucci、Chanel 之类的 名牌 。Tā chuān de yīfu dōu shì Gucci, Chanel zhī lèi de míngpái.All the clothes she wears are all brands like Gucci and Chanel.
