Notes

When using measure words, every number is used before the measure itself except for 二 (two). It is replaced with 两. When saying the number two without any measure word, you cannot use 两.

零 is zero. 半 is 1/2.

After the number 9,999, things get complicated. In English, 10,000=ten thousand. However, in Chinese, 10,000=一万. 100,000 is then ten ten thousands, or 十万. This system takes a lot of practice, since our number system is divided by every three zeros, and Chinese is divided into every four zeros.

1,000=千 10,000=万 100,000,000=亿
