"假使⋯⋯,就⋯⋯" (jiáshǐ..., jiù...) is another way to phrase "If..., then..." in Chinese, with this pattern being one of the most formal.

An important note is that this pattern is usually only used in written formal Chinese.

Structure

假使 + Statement + 就 + Result

Examples

  • 假使 明天 下雨,我 不 去 上班 了。If it rains tomorrow, then I'm not going to work.
  • 假使 你 同意,我们 立马 签 合同。If you agree, then we should sign the contract right away.
  • 假使 我们 能 找到 更 多 的 赞助,我们 就 可以 帮助 更多 的 孩子。If we find even more sponsors, then we can help even more children.
