Expressing "in addition" with "zaishuo"

"再说⋯⋯" (zàishuō...) is used in a similar way as "In addition" or "Moreover," in that it is adding on additional information or reasons to the topic at hand.

Structure

Just add 再说 to the beginning of the second clause of your sentence. Remember that both statements should be related to each other!

Examples

  • 这么 晚 ,别 走 了。再说 ,外面 还 在 下雨 。Zhème wǎn, bié zǒu le. Zàishuō, wàimiàn hái zài xiàyǔ.It's so late. Stay. Besides, it's raining outside.
  • 他 喜欢 就 让 他 去 吧 。再说 ,他 在 家 没 事 干 。Tā xǐhuan jiù ràng tā qù ba. Zàishuō, tā zài jiā yě méi shì gàn.He likes it ans you should let him go. Besides, he's got nothing to do at home.
  • 别 吃 了 ,你 已经 吃 了 五 个 了 。再说 ,我们 都 还 没吃 呢 。Bié chī le, nǐ yǐjīng chī le wǔ gè le. Zàishuō, wǒmen dōu hái méi chī ne.You've eaten five. Stop eating. Besides, the rest of us haven't eaten yet.
  • 住 我 家 吧 ,可以 省 点 钱 。再说 ,孩子 们 也 可以 一起 玩 。Zhù wǒ jiā ba, kěyǐ shěng diǎn qián. Zàishuō, háizi men yě kěyǐ yīqǐ wán.You can stay with me. You can save some money. Besides, the kids can play together.
  • 对不起 ,我 没 时间 。再说 ,我 也 没 兴趣 。Duìbuqǐ, wǒ méi shíjiān. Zàishuō, wǒ yě méi xìngqù.Sorry, I don't have time for this. Besides, I'm not interested.
  • 那 件 衣服 太 贵 了 ,我 没 买 。再说 ,我 也 不是 很 喜欢 。Nà jiàn yīfu tài guì le, wǒ méi mǎi. Zàishuō, wǒ yě bù shì hěn xǐhuan.That piece of clothing is too expensive. I didn't buy it. Besides, I didn't like it so much.
  • 明天 去 吧 ,我 今天 太 累 了 。再说 ,超市 也 要 关门 了 。Míngtiān qù bā, wǒ jīntiān tài lèi le. Zàishuō, chāoshì yě yào guānmén le.Let's go tomorrow. Besides, the supermarket is about to close now.
  • 你 别 生气 ,这 不 是 他 的 错 。再说 ,这 也 不 是 什么 大 事 。Nǐ bié shēngqì, zhè bù shì tā de cuò. Zàishuō, zhè yě bù shì shénme dà shì.Don't be so mad. It's not his fault. Besides, it's not a big deal.
  • 这个 项目 的 风险 太大 了 。再说 ,我们 现在 也 没 那么 多 钱 。Zhège xiàngmù de fēngxiǎn tài dà le. Zàishuō, wǒmen xiànzài yě méi nàme duō qián.The risk of this project is too high. Besides, we don't have that much money now.
