While the Mandarin Chinese spoken in Taiwan is largely grammatically consistent with mainland China, there are some grammatical differences. Some of these differences are shared with parts of southern China and are readily understood by Beijingers, while others can sometimes be bewildering to mainland Chinese not familiar with the Taiwanese usage.
