Expressing indifference with "jiu"

One of the many uses of 就 is to add emphasis to indifference.

Structure with Verbs

V. + 就 + V.

This structure will usually emphasive the tone of voice, and it often expresses that the speaker has a non-caring attitude.

这个句式通常会加强语气，而且表现出说话者无所谓的态度。

Examples

• 不吃就不吃，你以为我很想吃啊？
• 去就去，反正在家也没事。

Structure with Negative Adj.

Negative Adj. + 就 + Negative Adj.

You can also add in an adjective with a negative connotation. The use is the same here.

这个句型中的动词也可以替换成具有消极意义的形容词，作用是一样的。

Examples

• 不满意就不满意，我也没办法。
• 她不高兴就不高兴，又不是我的错。
• 生气就生气，谁怕谁！
