Intensifying with "duo"

One way to intensify a sentence is to make it an exclamation. To do this, you can use 多 (duō). It's really exciting!

Structure

As well as asking about degree, you can also use 多 (duō) to intensify adjectives.

Subj. + 多 + Adj. !

Examples

• 这 个 老师 多 好 ！ Zhè ge lǎoshī duō hǎo! This teacher is so great!
• 今天 天气 多 舒服 ！ Jīntiān tiānqì duō shūfu! The weather today is so nice !
• 你 看 这 个 地方 ， 多 美 啊！ Nǐ kàn zhè ge dìfang, duō měi a! Look at this place, it is so beautiful!
• 学 中文 多 有 意思 啊！ Xué zhōngwén duō yǒu yìsi a! Studying Chinese is so interesting!
• 你 穿 这么 少 ， 多 冷 啊！ Nǐ chuān zhème shǎo, duō lěng a! You are wearing so few clothes, you must be so cold!
• 坐 地铁 多 方便！ Zuò dìtiě duō fāngbiàn! How convenient it is to take the metro!
• 你看 这 个 小狗， 多 可爱！ Nǐkàn Zhè ge xiǎogǒu, duō kěài! Look at this puppy!It is so cute!
• 他们 每天 工作 十 二 个 小时 ， 多 累 啊！ Tāmen měitiān gōngzuò shí èr gè xiǎoshí, duō lèi a! They work twelve hours every day, they must be so tired!
• 这样做 多 麻烦！ Zhè yàng zuò duō máfan! Doing it this way is so troublesome!
• 这些菜多 好吃 啊！多 吃 点 吧！ Zhè xiē cài duō hǎochī a!Duō chī diǎn ba！ These food are so delicious!Eat more!
• 你 男朋友 多 帅 啊！你 还 不 满意？Nǐ nán péngyou duō shuài a!Nǐ hái bù mǎnyì? Your boyfriend is so handsome.Are you still not satisfied?

多 (duō) can be compared to 很 (hěn) in this case. As you can see, if you use 很 (hěn) instead of 多 (duō), the meaning is basically the same. The exact meaning of 很 (hěn) is "very"and the exact meaning of 多 (duō) is "a lot." These two words can easily be interchanged as desired without changing the meaning.
