Expressing "the more... the more..." with "yue… yue…"

这个句型对动词有一定的要求，第一个"越"后面的动词一般是单音节感官动词、心理动词或常见的行为动词, 如"听、说、想、问、看"等。第二个"越"后面的动词也多是这一类的。

Using this pattern with only one Subject

Structure

Subj.＋越＋Verb 1＋越 + Adj.

Subj.＋越＋Verb 1＋越 + Verb 2

Examples

• 他 越 跑 越 快。Tā yuè pǎo yuè kuài.The more he runs, the faster he gets.
• 我们 越 说 越 高兴。Wǒmen yuè shuō yuè gāoxìng.The more we talk, the happier we are.
• 我 越 听 越 不 舒服。Wǒ yuè tīng yuè bù shūfu.The more I listen to this, the more uncomfortable I am.
