The following structures used to make comparisons in Chinese are organized according to our grammar points by level.

A1 Denying and refusing

Grammar Point (English) Pattern Examples
Negation of "you" with "mei" 没 + 有 没有 钱 。
Negation of past actions with "meiyou" 没有 + Verb 没有 去 酒吧。
Negative commands with "buyao" 不要 + Verb 不要 说 英文!
Standard negation with "bu" 不 + Verb / Adj. 他们 是 坏 孩子。

A2 Denying and refusing

Grammar Point (English) Pattern Examples
Basic comparisons with "meiyou" Noun 1 + 没(有) + Noun 2 + Adj. 没有 我 胖 。
Comparing "bu" and "mei" 不 vs 没 我 今天 晚上 吃饭。昨天 晚上 我 吃饭。
Expressing "stop doing" with "bie… le" 别 + Verb + 了 ,烦 死了 。
Negative commands with "bie" 别 + Verb 走。

B1 Denying and refusing

Expressing "not at all" with "yidianr ye bu" Subj. + 一点 + 也 / 都 + 不 + Adj. 一点 也 不 胖 。

B2 Denying and refusing

Basic comparisons with "bu bi" Noun 1 + 不比 + Noun 2 + Adj. 不 比 别人 笨 。
Comparisons with "buru" 不如⋯⋯ 我的 汉语 不如 他的。
Expressing "on the contrary" with "fan'er" ⋯⋯,反而 ⋯⋯ 他 没有 放弃 ,反而 更加 努力 了 !
