If you "would like to" express something "you would like to do", then 想 is the verb for you.

Structure

The verb 想 (xiǎng) can be used to express "would like to". In this case it's an auxiliary verb. The structure is:

Subject + 想 + Verb + Object

Examples

  • 喝 啤酒。I would like to drink beer.
  • 回家。He would like to return home.
  • 吃 葡萄。He would like to eat grapes.
  • 喝 咖啡 吗?Would you like to drink coffee?
  • 我 不 吃 米饭。I don't want to eat rice.
  • 我 很 去 法国。I would really like to go to France.
  • 他 不 见 我。He wouldn't like to see me.
  • 我 不 买 车。I wouldn't like to buy a car.
  • 我 老婆 买 一 个 大 房子。My wife would like to buy a big apartment.
