Giving perspective with "yaowoshuo"

“要我说” (yàowǒshuō) is another, more colloquial way to say "in my opinion" or "the way I see it." It is generally used to express a person's perspective or opinion about a matter.

Structure

The structure is very simple. All you need to do is put "要我说" in front of your opinion. Context will take care of the rest!

Examples

• 要我说，这 件 事 先 不要 告诉 爸妈。The way I see it, this is something we shouldn't tell Mom and Dad.
• 要我说，就 去 外面 吃 吧，不要 在 家 做饭 了。I say we should just eat out instead of cooking at home.
• 要我说，他 就 不 应该 跟 老婆 离婚。I think he shouldn't divorce his wife.
• 要我说，带 不 带 礼物 都 没 关系，关键 是 人 要 去。 In my opinion, bringing gifts or not isn't what matters, the important thing is that people go.
