Whenever you need to list nouns, whether two of them or more, 和(hé) is there to help you out!

Structure

The most common way to express "and" in Chinese is with 和 (hé). It's important to note that 和 can only be used to link nouns. Verbs (or whole sentences) should not be linked with 和.

Noun 1 + 和 + Noun 2

Examples

  • 姐姐 一起 去 公园。I want to go to the park with my sister .
  • 我 喜欢 啤酒 葡萄酒I like beer and wine.
  • 小李 小王 一起 工作。Little Li and Little Wang work together.
  • 我 的 爷爷 我 的 奶奶 都 是 70 岁。My grandpa and grandma are both 70 years old.
  • 我 的 朋友 都 喜欢 中国 菜。My friend and I both like Chinese food.
  • 他们 的 老板 我们的老板 都是美国人。Their boss and our boss are both Americans.
  • 去年 冬天 今年 的 夏天 我 都 在 纽约。I was in NewYork both last winter and this summer .
  • 苹果 手机 苹果 电脑 都 很 贵。Both the Apple smartphone and the Apple computer are expensive.
