Whenever you need to list nouns, whether two of them or more, 和(hé) is there to help you out!

Structure

The most common way to express "and" in Chinese is with 和 (hé). It's important to note that 和 can only be used to link nouns. Verbs (or whole sentences) should not be linked with 和.

Noun 1 + 和 + Noun 2

Examples

  • 我 姐姐 一起 到 公园。My sister and I arrived at the park together .
  • 我 喜欢 啤酒 葡萄酒I like beer and wine.
  • 小李 小王 一起 工作。Little Li and Little Wang work together.
  • 我的爷爷 我 的奶奶 一样大。My grandpa and grandma are of the same age.
  • 你的朋友 都喜欢开玩笑。Your friend and you both like joking.
  • 他们的老板 我们的老板 都是美国人。Their boss and our boss are both Americans.
  • 去年冬天 今年的夏天 我都在纽约。I was in NewYork both last winter and this summer .
  • 苹果手机 苹果电脑 都很贵。Both the Apple smartphone and the Apple computer are expensive.
  • 水果 蔬菜我都爱吃 。I love to eat both fruits and vegetables.
  • 英语 汉语我都能说得很流利 。I can speak both English and Chinese fluently.
