Expressing future with "jiang"

将 (jiāng) can be used to denote something is about to happen in the near future, a bit like "about to" in English. It is generally used in formal contexts.

Structure

将 is often combined with other verbs like 会 and 要, and has a similar meaning.

Subj. + 将 / 将要 / 将会 + [Verb Phrase]

Examples

  • 这 次 世界杯 在 莫斯科 举行 。This World Cup will be held in Moscow.
  • 比赛 结果 在 月底 公布 。The result of this contest will be published by the end of this month.
  • 将 会 成为 一 个 成功 的 企业家 。He will become a successful entrepreneur.
  • 如果 政府 不 批准 ,我们 将 会 举行 抗议 。We're about to hold protest if the government disapprove.
  • 这个 政策 将 会 大大 改善 农民 的 收入 。This policy is about to improve farmers' income.
  • 我们 公司 明年 将 要 推出 一 系列 新 产品 。Our company is about to release a series of new products.
  • 政府 制定 新 的 行业法规 ,管理 股票 市场 。The government is about to make new industry regulations to supervise stock market.
