You will often come across “因为 (yīnwèi)... , 所以 (suǒyǐ)..." in both written and spoken Chinese. This pattern will give your Chinese a more logical structure, and can help make you more persuasive.

Using 因为 by itself to explain causes
A common way to explain causes in Chinese is with 因为 (yīnwèi). This is almost entirely equivalent to "because" in English. Usually 因为 (yīnwèi) will begin a new phrase in a sentence.
Structure
In this structure, we first state the result, and then give the reason in the next statement after the 因为 (yīnwèi).
Result ,因为 + Reason
Examples
He learns fast because he is smart.
She likes you because you are handsome.
I am studying Chinese because I want to go to China.
I don't like her because she is very unfriendly.
Dad is not feeling very well because he drank too much alcohol yesterday.
He didn't go to school today because he's sick.
Mom is really tired because she has three kids at home.
They didn't go to Hangzhou because the weather was very hot.
I wasn't in Shanghai last month because I went to Nanjing on a business trip.
He's never been to college because his family doesn't have the money.
Using 所以 by itself to explain results
Just as 因为 (yīnwèi) can be used to explain causes, 所以 (suǒyǐ) can be used to explain results. This is the equivalent of "so..." or "therefore..." in English.
Structure
This pattern is similar to expressing using both 因为 (yīnwèi) and 所以 (suǒyǐ), but it leaves out the beginning 因为 (yīnwèi). This structure is more informal.
Reason ,所以 + Result
Examples
Chinese characters are too hard, so I don't want to study them.
She is beautiful, so a lot of boys like her.
I really want to go to the United States, so I have to study English.
Last weekend the air was bad, so I didn't go out.
The teacher is tired so she needs to rest.
He found a job so he's happy.
I was too busy, so I didn't give you a call.
Your spoken Chinese is not so good, so you need to speak more.
There are a lot of foreigners in our company, so we speak English.
He is about to get married, so he's very busy.
Using 因为 and 所以 together
The full pattern "因为 (yīnwèi)... , 所以 (suǒyǐ)..." is used to clearly indicate cause and effect. They could be thought of as equating to: "Since ___ happened, so ___ happened."
Structure
This expresses that because of cause, therefore there is a result.
Examples
Since I have a Chinese girlfriend, I am going to study Chinese.
Since I don't want to be late, I should take a cab.
He doesn't have any money, so he can't find a girlfriend.
Since grandma is too old, she can't take an airplane.
Since the teacher is sick, she can't come to the class.
I'm very tired, so I want to rest.
Since you aren't me, you don't understand.
Since the boss isn't here, please come tomorrow.
His dad is dead, so he is very sad.
